Thessally
The region of Thessally is situated in central Greece and surrounded by a number of mountain ranges including Pindus, Olympus, Pelion, Othys, Ossa and Agrapha. The River Pinios flows down from the western slopes of Pindus, cuts Thessally in two areas and passes through the valley at Tempi meeting the sea.
Thessally has close links with the mythological past of Greece with Olympus being home to the Gods and Pelion the land of the Centaurs. There is evidence of historical continuity from Palaeolithic times to the present day. With Achilies as their leaderThe people of Thessally took part in the Trojan War.
On the western side of the plain of Thessally just as the Pindus range begins to form there is a natural phenomenon - 24 perpendicular rocks just out of plains, on which Byzantine monks built a monastic community. How these monasteries were built on the top of the virtually inaccessible rocks, 600 years ago, is a subject of fascination for pilgrims and visitors alike. The Meteora were featured in the James Bond film 007 For Your Eyes Only.
Thessally’s conference and incentive infrastructure includes: · Nine purpose built conference centre with capacities ranging from 150 to 2,500 delegates · Seven hotels ranging from five to three star hotels all with in-house facilities with capacities from 20 to 500 delegates
