Epirus

find

The region of Epirus in northwest Greece has its own blend of beauty and cultural identity.  It extends from the peaks of the Pindus mountain range to the shores of the Ionian Sea.  Epirus is divided into four districts namely Ioannina, Thesprotia, Preveza and Arta.

The region’s cultural distinctiveness is due to its historical background.  Over the centuries Epirus was in the centre of the many changes that the country experienced evident in its historical make up from ancient Greece, Rome, and Byzantium to the modern era.

As for its landscape, Epirus is Greece’s most mountains region.  The Pindus mountain range forms the natural northeastern border while other mountains large and small are scattered throughout the area separated by valleys.

The Vikos-Aoos National Forest – part of the Vallia – Kalda National Forest – is of great ecological value containing a number of unique ecosystems.  Due to its geographical situation, the region’s fauna and flora differs from other parts of Greece.  Bears, wolves, mountain lions, wild boars, otters, wild goats and deer can be seen on the cliffs where eagles and vultures nest.

To the west, the Ionian coast boasts a number of modern resorts, lagoons and river deltas of which the latter two form an important system of wetlands.

Epirus is an exciting destination both for a conference and incentives due to good facilities, natural beauty and the activities that can be enjoyed from white water rafting to skiing.

Epirus’s conference and incentive infrastructure includes:

  • One purpose built conference centre with capacities ranging from 18 to 500 delegates
  • Five hotels ranging from five to three star hotels all with in-house facilities with capacities from 10 to 650 delegates
