Macedonia - Thrace
Macedonia was the birthplace of Alexander the Great with a 4000 year history and civilisation. Today, Macedonia is the largest region of Greece, with Thessaloniki as its capital.
This northern region is blessed with a truly diverse and rich landscape. It is the garden of Greece with a number of lush forests and national parks with plenty of running rivers and lakes making it an ideal habitat for a wide variety of fauna and flora. Also represented are some rare species of fauna including bears, wolves, red dear, wild cats and boars, otters and many others.
Macedonia – Thrace has a very special culture depicted in its numerous town and capital.
