South Coast
The two areas in the South coast of the Peloponnese are Messinia and Laconia. Both have a very colourful past and their unique culture is a result of the many conquerers who ruled the land from ancient times to the late 19th century.
The South Coast is scattered with Venetian Castles and Byzantine Churches and it was from the walled town of Mystras that the last emperor of Constantinople started his journey to be crowned and take up his throne.
Apart from its rich historical past, the area has some of the best beaches in the country ideal for water sports and other land based sports activities including hiking and mountain biking.
