Apollo Coast

find

The Apollo Coast runs from Cape Sounion to Piraeus. It is one of the most beautiful city stretches in Europe and is 70 kilometres long.

Along the Apollo Coast there are a number of resorts with their own unique blend of ambiance and are easily accessible both from the Athens International Airport and from the city centre. The area is fully equipped with hotels featuring from three to deluxe properties, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, excellent shopping and recreational facilities as well as an 18-hole golf course in Glyfada.

The main resorts include; Glyfada, Voula, Vouliagmneni, Varkiza, Kavouri, Lagonissi, Anavissos and Sounion. All the resorts are glitzy and are ideal for those looking into combining a conference or incentive set by the sea and accessibility to the main sites of Athens such as the Acropolis, the National Archaeological Museum and private galleries. On the other hand being based in the Apollo Coast it allows visitors an easy access to the ancient temples of Sounion and Vravrona.

Sounion is closely related with the famous myth of Thesseus and the Minataur. It is believed that Thesseus father fell to his death once he realised that Thesseus did not change the sails of his ship from black to white to indicate that he was still alive. Today, the temple offers amazing sunsets and over the years it has received many renowned visitors whose signatures can still be see including Lord Byron’s.

The Apollo Coast however is perfect for water sports enthusiast as a variety can be enjoyed from water skiing to scuba diving in the Vouliagmeni Lake that offers an interesting underwater landscape.

The area offers an amazing nightlife especially from spring to early autumn as many bars and clubs line the road.
